Private viewings

I always try to accommodate previous visitors to the garden who have relatives staying from another part of the UK and want to show them the garden. They probably like me get fed up with others thinking that you can't have this sort of garden in such an Easterly area of the UK, so it is with pleasure that we can show them otherwise!! We get a lot of people from London but others from Austria and the West Coast of Scotland even. I remember the latter chap filling his car with plants from my nursery area and driving them straight back to Scotland!

Private viewings can be arranged for people who would rather visit the garden when it is a lot quieter away from the often mad and busy open days.

Some people enquire what the garden is like in winter. Not sure that they believe me when I say that it is not much different. For example there is no fleece anywhere. Have often thought of having a winter open day, but the vulgarities of the weather etc have put paid to this idea. Small groups however could be more easily managed.

Night viewings - Have laid on a few of these already. The garden does look very magical at night and very different again from daytime. I wanted it all lit up as I want to use the garden as much in winter. You will know if you have read my book that I am very much a believer in gardens looking good in winter. In the depths of winter I can still have a wander around the garden after a long day at work in the evening.

There are all sorts of lights in the garden, some even work by remote control, and you come over all James Bond like and impress visitors with said hand held mechanism!! The waterfalls are also lit up and look better at night than they do in the daytime.
