Exotic plant courses

These are three part affairs, usually on a Saturday morning and cost £50 for all 3 mornings including tea and cake during a well earned rest on each morning!! Its a lot of course for yer money!! As well as a chance to spend 3 lovely mornings at the garden with yours truly ... or has that put you off!!

First morning - In depth walk around the garden, explaining the tricks of the trade of an exotic garden in a cool climate. Also tips on the making of the garden, problems encountered and overcome, the microclimate of the garden, right plant, right place stuff, why only one plant is featured in all parts of the garden, your questions answered and advice given re your garden.

Second morning - Palms and spiky things. Here we concentrate on these plants. Did you know that 30 of the 100 large palms in my garden flower and fruit. We have grown plants from this actual seed. Did you know that at least one Palm will grow in almost full shade and as it originates from the Himalayas actually enjoys our cool climate?

Third morning - Big Leaves and bamboos. Here we get our hands a bit dirty as we dig up some bamboo/tips on propagation/how to control etc. Will explain the different types of bamboo that we grow here. Did you know that some do not run at all and are impeccable behaved. there is also a bamboo for full shade also. I have some of the thickest canes in our region, some being 2 inches thick. I'll explain why we use bamboo root barrier for these monsters.
